8.5.1 issue for closing the main xpage window.

I tried using window.close() as client side script to close main xpage when I click exit label/button on top right of the main xpage, but the method didn't work.Could you provide a workaround a simple one.Also seems window.close() don't work in 8.5.1,but this is very imp can you assume a main xpage without exit or close button ?
